Scout ("we", "us") is operated by Daniel Wayman, a sole trader, who is the data controller for personal data processed through this service.
2. Personal data we collect
- Account data: email address, login credentials, authentication identifiers.
- Usage data: queries submitted, scan history, feature usage, device identifiers, IP address, approximate location.
- Support data: messages and attachments you send us.
- Billing data: handled by our reseller, Paddle (see below). We receive subscription status and the last four digits of your card, not full payment details.
3. Purposes & legal bases
- Providing and operating the service — performance of a contract.
- Account security, fraud prevention, abuse detection — legitimate interests.
- Product improvement and analytics — legitimate interests.
- Customer support — performance of a contract / legitimate interests.
- Legal and tax compliance — legal obligation.
4. Data sharing
We share personal data with:
- Paddle.com Market Limited — our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payments, billing, tax compliance, invoicing, refunds, and related customer service.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers used to run the service.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
- Authorities where required by law.
5. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Account data is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period after account closure.
6. Your rights
Subject to your local law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; and request portability. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. International transfers
Where personal data is transferred outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and audit logging, to protect personal data.

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and session management. Analytics cookies, if any, are limited to aggregate product usage.
